P1 - Zoe Shapiro - Crest

This piece of art shows my family crest through p5.js coding software. The background shows a maze that changes every time the code is run. In the front, you can see four main images that together represent the Shapiro Family with 2 emblems of the ‘Shapiro’ name.
This vision was inspired by the streets of Florence and the different paths everyone can take and the different streets that all connect in gathering spaces like piazzas. The paths of the maze represent the small streets of Florence and even if you don't know where you are going at first, you will always find your way.
This work was created to show the many different paths, everyone in my family is on and no matter where we are in the world or the point of life we’re going through we know were are strong at the center and will always come back to each other with our close bonds. My family has always been very close and as we grow up and get older a lot more effort has to be put in on everyone’s sides, so this piece represents us coming together even with our hectic lives. The maze changes with every run of the code to show that your path is always changing but we will always make it to the center to find the ‘s’ the family.
The pastel colors bring calmness to this work which shows a lot of the personality of my family whereas the second piece is much darker and has bright colors to show the fun and outgoing side of my family as well. The heart and home at the top of the crest show the love we have for each other. It also shows that our home is a safe place for everyone to gather. The plate and airplane on the bottom show what brings us together with a joint love for cooking, eating, and traveling as a family.
My love for Florence and my family inspired this piece and I expect my audience to see this as well.
