For project one, I have created an infographic presenting information about pregnancy. I chose the target audience to be young females who may be experiencing pregnancy and do not have access to proper prenatal care. Pregnancy, especially childbirth, is a leading cause of death in females between the ages of 15 and 19. This is typically seen more in developing countries but is also prominent in marginalized communities in the United States. Teenage pregnancy is oftentimes a controversial conversation in which teenage females are not receiving the necessary information to carry out a healthy pregnancy for both the mother and the baby. I feel it is important for everyone, especially young females, to have access to information that could potentially save their life and the fetus's life.
This infographic will ideally be placed in pediatrician offices, school nurse offices, planned parenthood offices, and OB-GYN offices. I recognize that putting this in pediatrician offices and school nurse offices may be controversial as some may say this is promoting unwanted teenage pregnancy. I think it is important to present the information to young females as teenage pregnancy does occur and many are unequipped with the necessary information. I created a very basic and simple infographic only focusing on certain foods to eat/avoid and exercises to do/avoid, and a few important questions to ask your doctor. I wanted this to be a simple layout so as to not initially overwhelm the readers. This is not an all-encompassing infographic but can be a great starting point to encourage individuals to see a medical professional and receive the necessary prenatal care.
